The Process

A successful project almost always starts with a plan. Following an established process will save time, keeping you from taking two steps forward and one step back.

  • Project Goals & Planning

    The first phase in the process involves researching, gathering information and assembling project goals. I meet with you to determine what functionalities the site should have, as well as a general design direction. I then create a site map to establish the structure of the site. I work with you to set project timelines and goals to ensure we stay on track and on budget.

  • Design Concepts

    The design phase is focused on creating a design concept that illustrates the goals we’ve outlined, but is also visually pleasing and engaging.

  • Website Construction

    Once the design concept has been approved, the development phase begins. I install the CMS, develop the HTML/CSS, construct the site structure and add approved content. I use a method called Progressive Enhancement: your website is developed to work and look decent in older, base-level browsers, but will have non-essential, more advanced CSS and Javascript features in current and future browsers.

  • Testing

    Before launching the site, I test for cross-browser compatibility and usability in all major browsers. This ensures that no matter what browser is being used, the experience will be a satisfying one.

  • Website Support & Maintenance

    I integrate a CMS into each website I create, but maybe you’d still prefer that someone else handle the updates. Or maybe you’ve come across an issue that needs fixing or updating. Don’t worry – I’m here to help! I can provide back-end training and address any issues that arise.
